It is very disheartening and disappointing to see both the dumping of domestic waste in the bin at Tydavnet school, and the damage to the bin and the gates at the old entrance to the school. The damage to the gate may have been accidentally caused by a lorry that uses the area to park overnight occasionally, but it is still unacceptable to do it and not report it. The area is not a car or lorry park. The damage to the bin looks like it was a deliberate act of vandalism and the Tidy Towns group has removed the bin, but is our mystery household waste dumper now going to fly tip their waste along our roads? These actions are not acceptable, and we ask that people do the correct thing with their waste, and report any incidences of illegal dumping to the Tidy Towns committee or Monaghan Co Co environmental section. There have also been small incidents of vandalism noticed recently in the village like pulling out shrubs from the beds in the new car park and broken glass strewn around the car park and graveyard lane. This is vexing, and the people involved should find a more positive and productive way of spending their free time. Hopefully this will be the end of the matter. (Click on images to enlarge…..)
