On 1st April 2023 Noeleen, Karen, and Gabriella Brady from Shee, Tydavnet, will begin their biggest physical and mental challenge ever, trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal (5,364 metres). The Everest Base Camp hike involves several days of walking at altitudes over 12,000 feet (3,658m) above sea level, on very tricky terrain. The girls will first jet into Kathmandu, the heady, rickshaw-rattling capital of Nepal. After Kathmandu, there’s a short-haul flight from the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Airport to take them to the trailhead of Everest Base Camp at the mountain airstrip of Tenzing Hillary Lukla airport. The route will take them onto to Namche Bazaar, Pheriche, Gorakshep, to Base Camp. The whole journey will need 12-14 days of full-on trekking (as “rest days” involve walking too, and acclimatization) to complete the 80-mile (130km) roundtrip. It’s an amazing adventure, and we wish the girls “all the best” in their fundraising and hiking. They have been training hard and are hoping to raise as much money as possible for Temple St Hospital Play Fund. They welcome your donations, no matter how small, and have a Go Fund Me online payment page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-shee-side-ebc-fundraiser-for-temple-street?fbclid=IwAR2EIJnAoYQp767TK9-oE42fpjishIOe_-DWHoJ7YN60MYnhCk_3iBbmWkg
