The launch of the Monaghan County Fleadh will take place on Thursday 2nd June at 8pm, in the recreation hall of Urbleshanny School, hosted by Scotstown’s Craobh Éamonn ÓMuirí. The concert will feature the Lawlor family, Caitríona Sherlock, the Ceolainn senior music group, Edel Connolly and students, and will be headlined by musician and composer Michael Rooney, so a fantastic event is in store, and the fleadh programme of entries will also be available on the night. Later there will also be an open seisiun in McCague’s Bar at 9pm on Friday night. Saturday is competition day in Urbleshanny school from 10am, and band and groups competitions from 3pm (ish), followedby an open junior seisiun in Moyna’s Bar. Sunday will start with Aifreann na Fleidhe, and there will be a few tunes inside and perhaps outside the Chapel in Urbleshanny. So the weekend promises to be a great spectacle of music, song, dance and Gaeilge for anyone interested in Irish music and culture, everyone welcome.
