U3A Membership: Over 500 people have now renewed their membership;  however, there are still quite a few who haven’t renewed, as yet. If you are thinking of renewing, please do so asap as the membership list now needs to be finalised. We require all new members to please register using the envelopes in the Credit Union, so that we have your contact details, (the online facility is to be used for membership renewals only). All our activities must be strictly for members only, for insurance purposes, so, unfortunately, your name cannot be considered for any activity if you are not currently a member.

Trips: Our day trips are now in full swing and proving very popular. The Walking Group braved the elements on Monday 9th May and 43 people headed to Carlingford at 9:30am. We had tea/coffee and scones in The Four Seasons Hotel before setting out on our, rather soggy, walk along The Greenway. We returned to the hotel for lunch as the weather was too inclement to stroll around Carlingford as planned. Despite the rain, a great day was had by all and we returned to Monaghan around 4pm.

May 19th is our next trip, this time to Cultra and The Transport Museum in Belfast.

June 4th we head to the Bord Gáis Theatre to Singing in the Rain and there are still a few places left.

June 23rd is the date for our trip to Enniskillen with dinner in The Creighton Hotel, Clones on the way home. Cost is €55pp and details will be sent out shortly.

Classes: Most classes have now finished until autumn, however, there are a few weeks left in Art,

French, Spanish, Sculpture and Choir and one more Book Club meeting on May 18th. This month’s book is The invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.

French will wind up with it’s trip to France, 24th – 27th of May and Sculpture finishes with a trip to Edinburgh, 7th – 9th of June to see The Barbara Hepworth Exhibition.

The Wednesday walks are continuing, however, as are Brendan’s Zoom Fitness Classes and The HSE Thursday class. All classes hope to return in the autumn, together with Ballroom Dancing and Creative Writing. If you have suggestions for any other classes you would like, please text one of the numbers below.

Ukrainian Refugees: Monaghan U3A is keeping in regular contact with the Monaghan Integration Officer and has offered to support in any way it can.

Sympathy: Our final Committee Meeting of the year closed with a note of sympathy being passed for all recently deceased U3A members or family members.
