Tommy Moyna from Scotstown will be recognised with a “Just in Time” award from the Irish Water Safety for his courageous rescue intervention which saved the life of 2 people swimming in Quiglough, Ballinode last July. The Just in Time awards, sponsored by Seiko, recognise courageous rescue interventions, carried out by ordinary people, to assist persons in grave and imminent danger in the water. The Award from Water Safety Ireland takes the form of a Seiko watch or glassware and a certificate, citing the rescue service performed. Fortunately, Tommy’s intervention saved the 2 lives, and without his bravery, quick thinking and selflessness, the outcomes could have been very different; we congratulate him on his bravery and this well earned recognition. Due to the worsening of the Covid 19 situation and guidance on reducing social interactions, the ceremony will be streamed online on Tuesday 30th November at 7pm.
