The Rural Social Scheme provides income support for underemployed farmers who have an entitlement to specified social welfare payments. Participants are engaged for 19½ hours per week to provide certain services of benefit to rural communities. The scheme currently provides work opportunities in the local area, and there are a number of vacancies on the scheme in the local area.
- Opportunity is available to farmers in receipt of Farm Assist or other means tested payments as well as their family members such as spouse etc
