There have been a number of complaints about young cyclists on the footpath in Scotstown and Ballinode villages, posing a danger to pedestrians and those with baby buggies. These bikers are not little children on stabilisers or with parents – these are groups of (mostly young) people thundering along on their shiny bikes. With so many people out and about now, footpaths are getting even busier, but they should only be used for the purpose that their name suggests – for those of us on foot! Please please, a wee bit of consideration is required….we ask if you are a culprit, to consider the safety of everyone, enjoy cycling on the roads with helmet and high viz, and leave the rest of us to fight for the footpath spaces. As Dustin Hoffman put it memorably in Midnight Cowboy, I’m walking here. I’m walking here…..
