Visitors to the graveyard in Tydavnet will notice a new headstone erected recently way down
at the back right hand side. The monument is erected to the memory of up to 56 people who were reinterred in the cemetery in November 2014. The solemn ecumenical ceremony at the time was conducted by Rev Sean Clerkin and Canon Ian Berry, and the remains had been found after the stone wall fell in the old graveyard in 2012. They were taken to Dublin for analysis and research, and later returned to Monaghan museum for burial. It is fitting now that the memories of the deceased will endure as new generations learn to build on our community history, may they have eternal rest.
