There was a good turnout for our November meeting. A vote of  congratulations was extended to Marie McAree on the birth of a granddaughter Molly and to Clones ICA on the launch of their book 60 years of memories.  Congratulations also to those who had recipes in the new ICA Book on Bread and Baking. A vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Michael Myles McKenna who died recently . Those who attended the Painting on silk class had their scarves and cards with them to show the other members. Sheila Murray gave a great account of the class and it was very much enjoyed by all who attended. Patricia Hughes had an array of blankets and hats crocheted for the Rotunda babies. Thank you Patricia. Mindfulness and yoga with the ETB will take place in January, with no date arranged yet. It looks like we will have an outing to the Sound of Music in the Millennium Forum on Saturday 8th February. More details at our December meeting. Crochet classes were discussed, and it was agreed that we start back on Monday 20th January in Tydavnet cc. Some books were sold and the proceeds are going to the Associated Country Women of the World charity. This charity supports women worldwide and helps alleviate poverty. Our meeting concluded with a very informative and fun demonstration from Evelyn Fisher on the art of making Brown Bread. This was enjoyed and sampled by all.

Recently a very enjoyable night was had down in John and Margaret Treanor’s Teachín Bán. Local storyteller Francis McCarron regaled us with some fine stories and had a very attentive audience as he led us into the nefarious and sometimes kindly work of the fairies all absolutely fact based of course. We talked about going to the well for water and the many adventures by some along the way. John also had some fine stories to tell as did Margaret who entertained us with a few nice songs. Winnie’s rendition of the mouse and the cake was well received as was Margaret’s fine supper of lovely soda bread, treacle bread and scones. Our President Evelyn Fisher presented Margaret with the latest ICA book namely the ICA book of Bread and Baking. A few of the guild members have recipes included in this book. Our next meeting takes place on Thursday the 12th December in Tydavnet Community Centre at 8pm and Sandra Oliver will do some Christmas cookery with us.
