Walks: Walk on Wednesday 9th October is to Seaghan Dam, near Ballymacnab, Co Armagh. Meet at The Cathedral Car Park at 10.00 a.m. The walk on Wednesday 16th October, is on the Greenway. Meet at the Four Seasons car park at 10.30pm
Poems and Pints: Poems and Pints has proved most enjoyable, so it will resume Thursday October 17th at about 8.00pm. The venue is Maggie Charlie’s, Ballinode.
Concert in Ballybay: The choir is taking part in a concert in the Central School, Ballybay on Friday 18th October. The concert begins at 7.30pm, so if you are in the area, come along and enjoy!
10th Anniversary Party: We look forward to celebrating the U3A’s ten years in existence in the Soccer club, Gortakeegan on Thursday 24th October. Things get underway about 7.30 with a buffet supper, followed by music with Michael McGorman.

Monthly Talk: S.C. Next talk is Friday 25th October. Dr. Laura Kelly, Senior Lecturer in the History of Health and Medicine, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, will conduct an interactive talk on ‘The History of Family Planning in Ireland.’ All welcome. Tea and coffee will be available afterwards.
Book Club: The next Book Club meeting is on Thursday, October 24th in the Four Seasons hotel at 2.30pm. The book for this month is ‘Manhattan Beach’ by Jennifer Egan. The book is available in the library.
Film Club: Film club kicked off the season with ‘Some like it Hot’, the classic comedy with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe. Next is Wednesday 23rd October, when ‘Stan and Olly’ will be the film. Venue is Smithboro’ Presbyterian hall.
Coffee and Craic: Every Wednesday in Smithboro’ hall around 3.00. Drop in for an informal coffee or tea and a chat. All welcome.
Trip to the N.C.H. to Oklahoma is on Saturday 16th November. Places are now filled and there is a waiting list.
Christmas Coffee Morning: Yes it is early to mention the “C” word, but keep Thursday 12th December free for our annual Coffee Morning in St. Joseph’s Pastoral centre.
