Trip to Wexford: This trip to Ferrycarrig in Wexford, which will take place on September 23rd 24th and 25th is now full. Best wishes and safe journey to all who are travelling.

Walk: This week’s walk will take place on Wednesday, September 18th to Emy Lough. Meet at Lough Car Park at 10.30 a.m. Next week’s walk, which will take place on Wednesday 25th September is to Castle Saunderson. Meet at Smithborough GAA Car Park at 10.00 a.m.

Irish: Irish Classes begin in Gortakeegan on Thursday October 10 from 3.15 to 4.15 p.m.

Choir: Please note that there will be NO choir on Tuesday, September 24th . Choir will resume as normal on the following Tuesday.

Pilates: Please note that there will be no Pilates on Monday, September 23rd or Thursday September 26th.  Pilates will resume as normal on the following week.

Line Dancing: Line Dancing begins at Gortakeegan on Monday, October 7th at 10.45 a.m.

Flower Arranging: Three classes will take place in Gortakeegan on the following  Wednesdays, October 23rd,  November 6th and November 27th  from 2.30 to 3.30 p.m

Monthly Talk: The Monthly Talk will take place on Friday, September 27th at Gortakeegan at 11.00 a.m. Guest Speaker is John Wood of Linwood’s Bakery and Products. Tea/Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Book Club: The next Book Club meeting will take place at The Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan, on Thursday, September 26th at 2.30 p.m. The book we are currently reading is The Choice by Edith Eger, a true story of an amazing woman, who at the age of 16 was imprisoned in Auschwitz along with her family. She miraculously survived  and lives in The States. The theme is simple and profound. We have a choice to stay imprisoned by our trauma or confront our suffering.  Should be still available in Monaghan Library. New members always welcome.

Poems and Pints: This will resume on October 17th at 8.00 p.m. or thereabouts in Maggie Charlies. Incorrect date was inadvertantly given by me in last week’s Standard. Poems and Pints will be on the third Thursday of each month.

Coffee Morning: Coffee mornings continue in Graham’s on Thursdays around 10.40 or so.

Dates for your Diary:  A Party, celebrating U3A’s 10th Anniversary will be held in Gortakeegan on Thursday, October 24th.  Music by Michael McGorman.

A new class in Music Appreciation will commence shortly in The Cathedral Rooms. Tin Whistle Classes are also being arranged for those who may be interested. More information next week.

The new Walks Committee is planning “Away Walks”. These walks are in addition to the already established Wednesday Walks. More information when it becomes available.
