The death has taken place of Mary Sutliff (nee Smyth), Constitution Drive, Corta Madera, Calfornia and formerly of Main Street, Scotstown, Co. Monaghan. Predeceased by her husband George (25th January 2014), and her brothers Malachy and Seamus Smyth, Scotstown. Sadly missed by her daughter Lynn (Siekmann), sons Gregory and Matthew, and Craig, her sisters Philomena and Roisin, her son in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, sisters in law Denise and Teresa in Scotstown, and the extended circle of family and friends. As a young nurse, Mary Smyth had gone to San Francisco in 1963, met her husband-to-be on New Year’s Eve of the same year, and they were married on 20th June 1964 at Old St Mary’s in San Francisco. Within a few years, they were blessed with Lynn, the twins Matthew and Gregory and then Craig. The family settled in Corte Madera, California, and George and Mary were frequent visitors to Ireland, England, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and the rest of the USA for visits to family and many friends.  The late Mary will be laid to rest in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s, Urbleshanny, Scotstown on Tuesday 9th July at 8pm.
