Monaghan Sports Partnership is in the process of planning their activity programme schedule for Autumn/Winter 2019/20. If you would like to be considered for an Active Adult (50+) activity programme, they welcome your expression of interest.

Examples of activities undertaken by groups previously include:

  • Aerobics
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Line Dancing
  • Exercise to Music
  • Strength and Flexibility
  • Chair Exercises

If you think your community group would be interested in organising their own class, why not contact Monaghan Sports Partnership Office on 042 9755126 to get an Expression of Interest form. They advise that groups consult locally about the choice of activity/day/time before submitting expression of interest. Please note the deadline to submit completed expression of interest form is Friday 19th July 2019.

The aim of Monaghan Sports Partnership Active Adults (50+) programme is to increase the amount of people who are active in their later years by providing new opportunities for people to participate in sport and physical activities. This can be achieved by providing classes that are of interest to groups, and delivering them locally, and promoting the “habit” of exercising to the groups. Exercise for older individuals can have  as many mental health rewards as physical, such as reducing stress, anxiety and depression – especially the kind that often accompanies post-retirement boredom.
