On Friday 17th May the community will say “Farewell” and “Thank you” to Brian Hughes in Scotstown Pharmacy. Brian was one of those people who never needed a surname since arriving in the area 12 years ago; most people just referred to him as “Brian in the chemist”. He has been a fantastic pharmacist, not just filling prescriptions, but also giving good advice with empathy and a genuine interest in all customers. He not only dispensed the medicines, but he was always able to counsel patients on how the prescribed drugs work, the side effects and interactions, what to expect taking them, and enquire later how the patient was getting on. Brian always went the extra mile! A small presentation will be made to Brian on Friday evening at 5pm in Scotstown Pharmacy, and anyone who wishes to be associated with this is very welcome to contribute via Alice Daly in Ballinode 0877788621 or Micheal Owen McMahon in Centra Scotstown. The personal service and attention dispensed by Brian has been a tonic for all our community. Everyone welcome to come along to offer their good wishes to him; we thank him for his commitment to our good health!
