Important Date for Your Diary: Dr. Sarah Culhane from Maynooth University will attend a screening of a 1950’s Film in Smithborough Hall on Tuesday, April 16th.  at 7.30 p.m. We would really appreciate a good turnout on the night for the film, The Student Prince, as Geraldine, our Chairperson, has put a lot of work into organising those Film Nights.  Sarah is conducting research all over Ireland on people’s memories of attending the Cinema.  She will have questions to spark your memories and you will have an opportunity on the night to discuss these. Trip to Cotswolds: A single room has become available on the second week of our organised trip to The Cotswolds, if anyone is interested. It will be strictly first come, first served. Text Jane or Geraldine on 087 343 2275 or 083 324 4455 if you wish to travel.

Walk: No walk on April 10th due to the U3A organised SongFest in The Four Seasons Hotel. The next walk on Wednesday, April 17th is to Gosford Park in Markethill. Meet at The Four Seasons Car Park at 10.00 a.m.

Poems and Pints: This event, which takes place every third Thursday, is proving very popular with many U3A Members. The next night for Poems and Pints is April 25th in Maggie’s Bar in Ballinode at 8.00 p.m. Change of date as the third Thursday is Holy Thursday.

Confidence, Inside and Out: Maria Macklin will be our Guest Speaker in Gortakeegan on Friday, April 26th at 11.00. The title of her talk, is “Confidence, Inside and Out”. Tea/Coffee will be served. An occasion not to be missed!

Bowling: Outdoor Bowling will begin in Gortakeegan on Thursday, May 2nd, weather permitting, in Monaghan Utd, Soccer Club at Gortakeegan, from 10.00 a.m. until 12.00 noon.

Coffee and Craic: Every Wednesday in Smithborough Hall around 3.00. Drop in for an informal Coffee/ Tea and a chat. All welcome.

Active Adults 50+: Go for Life Games 6 Week Programme will begin on Tuesday, April 30, in St. Patrick’s Hall, Monaghan from 11.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Cost is €3 per week. For more information, contact Monaghan Sports Partnership on 042 9755 126.

Pilates:  Pilates class takes place on Tuesdays at 3.30 and is taught by Jeanette Keenan. This takes place in Gortakeegan.   Bring your own mat and towel.  We also have a Flexibility class on Thursdays in the Gym Club, Milltown, at 9.30am. This class is especially helpful for bone strength.

Coffee Morning, every Thursday, around 11.00 a.m. in Graham’s Coffee Shop.
