Congratulations to Peadar O’Lamhna, from Telayden, who won the silver medal and a silver prize sponsored by Gael Linn at the Pearse Irish language debating competition in the King’s Inn on Thursday 7th February 2019. The Bonn an Phiarsaigh is a prestigious Irish language debating competition for legal students, reminiscent of the former Irish barrister and 1916 leader Padraig Pearse. Peadar was proposing the motion that Brexit will be favourable for Ireland.

Den chéad uair, reáchtáladh Comórtas an Phiarsaigh in Óstaí an Rí aréir. Comórtas díospóireachta as Gaeilge é do mhic léinn dlí, ainmnithe i gcuimhne ar an bPiarsach a bhí ina abhcóide agus ceannródaí Gaeilge. An rún ná ‘Rachaidh Breatimeacht chun leasa na tíre seo’ agus bhuaigh Peadar Ó Lamhna an bonn airgid agus duais airgid a bhí urraithe ag Gael Linn. Ábhar abhcóide é Peadar arb as Muineachán dó.
