Annual Party: Our annual party will be held in Rossmore golf club on Friday 1st March. Come along for an evening of good food, music and chat and all for 12 euro. Food will be served at 7.30pm

Trip to the Dail: While the trip to the Dail is full, we have added in a visit to the Seamus Heaney exhibition at the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage centre for the afternoon. So if you are interested in going to the centre and a visit to the National Gallery in the morning, but not the Dail, please text 0833244455 leaving your name and number. The trip is on Wednesday 13th March.

Trips to the Cotswolds: We have organised two identical trips to the Cotswolds. Sailing from Dublin to Holyhead, we are staying in Jury’s hotel in Cheltenham. We have five days, four nights, exploring Cheltenham, Bath and Oxford. Week 1 is from Sunday 28th April to Thursday 2nd May. Week 2 is Monday 6th May to Friday 10th May. Cost is currently 430 euro pps or 550 euro for a single room. Price includes all travel, B and B and dinner and guides in Bath and Oxford. There is a couple of doubles/twins available on both tours.

AGM: Thanks to all who came to the AGM. We had a great turnout and a very informative meeting. Thanks to Bernie Bradley, Monaghan County council and Annette Head, Age Action. Congratulations to all who have taken up new positions and thanks to all who agreed to stay on the committee.

Book Club: The next Book Club meeting is on Thursday 28th February in the Four Seasons hotel at 2.30pm. The book for this month is ‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney. As this is a new publication, it is not, as yet, available in the library.

Film Club: Film club is on fortnightly on Tuesdays in Smithboro Presbyterian hall. The next meeting will be Tuesday, 19th February.

Social Dancing: Social dancing has proved to be a popular option, but there are a few places available.

Walks: The walk on Wednesday, February 13th is in Castlesaunderson. Meet at Smithborough GAA car park at 10.00 am. This is a lovely walk through the woods with plenty to see, both historically and in nature. The walk on Wednesday, February 20th is in Rossmore park. Meet at Rossmore car park at 10.30 am.

Poems and Pints: Poems and Pints has proved most enjoyable, so the next date is, Thursday 21st February at 8.00pm. Being so near Valentine’s night we are looking for poems with a romantic/love theme.

Song Fest: The Song Fest 2019 is on Wednesday 10th April and entries are almost full. Our theme for the song Fest is ‘All Kinds of Everything’. Any members willing to give a hand would be most welcome. If interested text 0873432275 leaving your name. You can come along and enjoy this day that celebrates the joy of singing and choirs in the Four Seasons hotel.

Renewal of Membership: Now is the time to renew your Annual Membership. You can leave your fee, 15e for an individual or 20e for a couple, into the Age Action shop, Glaslough street.. Please place it in the U3A box and remember to leave your name, number and email.

Coffee and Craic: Every Wednesday in Smithboro’ hall around 3.00. Drop in for an informal coffee or tea and a chat. All welcome.

Pilates:  Pilates class takes place on Tuesdays at 3.30 and taught by Jeanette Keenan. This takes place in Gortakeegan.   Bring your own mat or towel .

We also have a Flexibility class on Thursdays in the Gym club, Milltown, at 9.30am. This class is especially helpful for bone strength. We hope to resume Line Dancing in March.
