Christmas Coffee Morning: This Thursday, December 6th in St. Joseph’s Pastoral centre is the date and place for our annual Christmas Coffee morning. It all begins at 10.30am and we hope to have a good turnout for this very sociable event. There is no charge but we will have a raffle, with seasonal prizes, for a local charity.

Classes: Most classes are finishing up for the Christmas holidays. Irish, French and Spanish finish up the week beginning 10th December. Line dancing has already finished. A new session of Line Dancing  classes will begin in March 2019. Flower arranging and Art is also finished. Flexibility will finish on the 13th. Classes will resume in January.

Choir and Pilates will continue until the 18th December.

 Book Club: The next meeting is in the Four Seasons hotel on Thursday 24th January at 2.30pm. The book for this month is ‘The Day I Lost You’ by Fionnuala Kearney  Books are available in the library for anyone interested in joining the U3A Book club.

 Walks: The walk on Wednesday, December 5th is in Castle Saunderson.  Meet at the Smithboro’ GAA car park at 10.00am.The walk on Wednesday, December 12th is on the Greenway. Meet at Four Seasons hotel car park at 10.30am.  The walk on December19th is in Rossmore park. Meet at the car park at 10.30am.

Choir: We have a few dates for your diary, Tuesday 11th December, St.Patrick’s Church Carol Service, December 19th, Showcase in the Garage theatre and finally December 23rd Carol service in St. Dympna’s Church, Ballinode. Come along and support the choir.

Choir runs from 11.00 to12.30 on a Tuesday morning in Gortakeegan, all welcome whether you have a great voice or just enjoy humming along.

Poems and Pints: Another enjoyable night was had in Maggie Charlie’s, so we have arranged to have another one on Thursday December 13th. Maggie Charlie’s is the venue, time is 8.00pm.

U3A Travel Vouchers: Now with Christmas coming you may want to give a friend in the U3A a gift but are stuck for ideas. Well here is an idea, we have printed gift vouchers that can be put towards a trip or event in the U3A. If you wish to get a voucher, text Mary on 0868047575. Vouchers will be available to buy at the Coffee Morning on the 6th December.

AGM: Our AGM will take place on Friday 8th February 2019 in the soccer club Gortakeegan

Coffee and Craic: Every Wednesday in Smithboro’ hall around 3.00. Drop in for an informal coffee or tea and a chat. All welcome.

Pilates:  Pilates class takes place on Tuesdays at 3.30 and taught by Jeanette Keenan. This takes place in Gortakeegan. .  Bring your own mat or towel. We also have a Flexibility class on Thursdays in the Gym club, Milltown, at 9.30am

Song Fest: Keep in mind that Monaghan U3A will host Song Fest 2019 on Wednesday 10th April. Our theme for the song Fest is ‘All Kinds of Everything’. Any members willing to give a hand would be most welcome. If interested text 0873432275 leaving your name. Every little helps!
