Walks: The walk on Wednesday, November 7th is in Knockmany, Clogher. Meet at Tydavnet Community centre, at 10.00am. The walk on Wednesday, November 14th is in Crocknagrally, an upland predominantly coniferous forest that lies between Brookeborough and Fivemiletown. Meet at Maggie Charlie’s, Ballinode, at 10.00am or Knockatallon school at 10.30.
Film Club: The next Film Club is Tuesday 13th November at 7.30 in Smithboro Presbyterian hall. ‘Gone with the Wind’ proved a great success and the film for next Tuesday is ‘Jane Eyre’ the classic tale of the young governess, Jane, and the mysterious Mr Rochester starring Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska.
Poems and Pints: The evening of ‘Poems and Pints’ was a great success with poems read, some original, others well known, and much chat and a few pints. Maggie Charlie’s pub in Ballinode is the venue for the next meeting on Thursday 15th November starting around 8pm. A light hearted evening is promised where those interested can bring along their favourite poem(s) to read or recite. So now is the time to look up that old poetry book or search on the internet for a favourite poem. Maybe you have a self- penned composition, bring it along and give it an airing! If you haven’t got a poem, come along and join in the fun.
Coffee and Craic: Every Wednesday in Smithboro’ hall around 3.00. Drop in for an informal coffee or tea and a chat. All welcome.
Book Club: The next meeting is in the Four Seasons hotel on Thursday November 29th at 2.30pm. The book for this month is ‘Anything is Possible’ by Elizabeth Strout. Books are available in the library for anyone interested in joining the U3A Book club.
U3A Travel Vouchers: Now with Christmas coming you may want to give a friend in the U3A a gift but are stuck for ideas. Well here is an idea, we have printed gift vouchers that can be put towards a trip or event in the U3A. If you wish to get a voucher, text Mary on 0868047575.
Age Action Computer classes: Age Action and St. Macartan’s college TY boys are running a beginner’s course in computers, iPads and tablets. Courses begin on Thursday 22nd November and runs for four weeks until 13th December. For further information call into the Age Action shop, Glaslough st.
Pilates: Pilates class takes place on Tuesdays at 3.30 and taught by Jeanette Keenan. This takes place in Gortakeegan. . Bring your own mat or towel.
We also have a Flexibility class on Thursdays in the Gym club, Milltown, at 9.30am
Coffee Morning, every Thursday, around eleven, in Graham’s Coffee shop.
Flower Arranging continues on November 21st and December 5th in Gortakeegan. Classes are now full.
Trip to Carousel: The bus to ‘Carousel’ will pick up people at 8.30am in McNally’s car park opposite the shopping centre.
Social Dancing: We are in the process of organising a Social Dancing class. Watch out for further information in the coming weeks.
Monthly Talk: Our sympathies to Sergeant Mick Duffy on the death off his father. Sergeant Duffy was to give our October talk but he will do the talk in January.
