Michael Carbin and Conor Mohan from Ballinode

Best wishes to Ballinode’s Micheal Carbin and Conor Mohan who head off to Cape Town, Africa on Saturday 17th November with Niall Mellon Educate charity.  They will be working in 2 schools  in the township of Wallacedene which is located in the Kraaifontain region, north east of Cape Town.
The schools and work to be carried out in each is as follows:

Enkululekweni Primary School, with 1320 pupils here they will help to build 2 grade R classrooms, a kitchen, covered sheltered, playground including sand pit and a road to teach the children how to cross safely, as 3 children have been knocked down this year. Hector Peterson is a High School with 1460 pupils and here we will build, 12 classrooms, including a room for a social worker, kitchen, toilet block, covered shelter, out door gym and create 2 sports fields on ground that we have managed to reclaim from the City of Cape Town for the school. The Niall Mellon Educate Trust has previously worked in Wallacedene building 6.000 homes in house building blitzes there in 2009, 2010 and 2012. Many of the students in the 2 schools live in those houses, a nice way of completing the circle! We wish them a safe, enjoyable, and fruitful trip.
