A Splendid Line-Up Awaits as Monaghan Women in Business Celebrate National Women’s Enterprise Day. If you are a woman in business or senior management – or are a woman who is thinking of going into business – here’s an occasion you should not miss. The Monaghan Women in Business Network brings you a superb event to celebrate National Women’s Enterprise Day in The Hillgrove Hotel at 4.30 pm on Thursday 18th October. The event – which will be opened by Minister Heather Humphreys T.D. and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation – includes an appearance by Noelle O’Connor, MD at TanOrganic.
Noelle is the only entrepreneur ever to have been selected to appear on both the RTE and BBC’s Dragons’ Dens. Having secured investment by Gavin Duffy – whom she subsequently bought out by mutual agreement – on the RTE programme, Noelle recently turned down bids for investment in her business by no fewer than 4 BBC Dragons. Deborah Meaden, Tej Lavani, Jenny Campbell and Touker Suleyman all wanted a share of Noelle’s business, but she bravely walked away from their offers as she decided that they wanted too much of TanOrganic in return for the support. Noelle has gone through and overcome tough times in business, but she is a woman who is truly passionate about her product, knows the value and potential of her business and knows what she wants to achieve and how. Eight years after the original launch, TanOrganic still holds the title for the most successful Dragons’ Den Ireland product with €1 Million in sales within the first 3 months of trading. TanOrganic products are now sold in leading pharmacies along with being sold on board airlines including AerLingus, Transavia, Ryanair, and Virgin Airlines. Today, exports account for approximately 70 per cent of TanOrganic sales with export markets including the USA, Iceland and France. So here is a very impressive and vibrant example of “From Local to Global” by an ambitious female entrepreneur. We look forward to sharing Noelle’s insights into growing a business, developing valuable export markets, the impact which appearing on Dragons’ Den had on her business – and perhaps a few Dragons’ Den secrets!
The line-up on the evening will also include Marie Mohan, Director at Greenfield Foods. As director of one of the largest and most successful food producing companies in the country – based near Smithborough – Marie, certainly knows about managing and growing a business.
To top it all, the event will be hosted by Theresa Lowe, founder of Lowe Communications. Having joined RTE as a Continuity Announcer in 1983, Theresa progressed to become a radio presenter and then went on to host the very popular and successful TV quiz – “Where in the World?” A born communicator, Theresa is known for her natural way of putting people at ease and getting them to reach their full potential. So Theresa is sure to get the event buzzing and maximising its benefits and enjoyment for all concerned.
The evening will include exhibits by many of the great and varied businesses which are run by our innovative and enterprising Monaghan women and will be concluded by lots of networking and a delicious, hot buffet supper will be served!
