Life is more complicated for families who have a loved one with a disability. Monaghan Association of ‘Parents and Friends’ of Persons with an Intellectual Disability is hosting an important information meeting at Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan, on Tuesday 30th October 2018 at 8pm.  Primary caretakers of a loved one with a disability routinely wonder who will care for, love, and financially support their family member when they are gone. Local solicitor, Michelle Flanagan, will give a talk on how parents’ should instruct solicitors when making a will and drawing up deeds of trusts for a family member with special needs. It is generally accepted by parents that without the contribution of ‘friends,’ voluntary organisations assisting persons’ with special needs could not function. In this regard, Mr Jurgen Hoogerboord, Lisnaskea, will speak about personal experience of his role as friend in Holland and Northern Ireland. He will also speak generally about services and the changes in services taking place in both Northern Ireland and Holland. Both speakers will take questions. This meeting is also an opportunity for the local committee to update attendees on their work in recent times.
