It’s a super weekend of Irish music in north Monaghan over the weekend, and there are 2 superb concerts to interest all enthusiasts. First up is the eagerly awaited “Cornagilta Concert” – the opening night of Scoil Cheoil na Botha 2018. There will be top class music and craic from Scotstown’s Donal McCague on fiddle, Tommy Fitzharris on flute, and Brian McGrath on keyboard, this is a limited seating venue, so get your ticket now from McCague’s Bar, Scotstown, The Scoil Cheoil weekend continues with music tuition workshops on Saturday in Urbleshanny School, with tuition on all instruments – a great chance to get tips from champions. There will also be music and singing seisiuns over the weekend, and everyone is welcome. A singing seisiun with Caitriona Sherlock will take place in McCague’s Bar on Saturday 13th October from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Come along to listen or join in, everyone is welcome. A junior music seisiun with Emma and Karla Clerkin will take place from 4 to 5pm on Saturday 13th October in Moyna’s Bar, come along to listen, dance or participate, everyone welcome. Further seisiuns will take place in McCague’s Bar each night.

The second concert of champions will be the Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland hosted by the Emyvale branch of CCÉ for the very first time in Emyvale Leisure Centre on Saturday 13th of October. Emyvale Branch is particularly proud in that one of their members Cathy Kirke will be participating in the concert, an incredible honour for herself, her family and the local branch.
