National Heritage Week 2018 takes place from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th August 2018, and a very full and varied programme of events will be taking place all over County Monaghan. The Monaghan launch took place in the Sliabh Beagh hotel on Thursday 9th August, and the booklet was launched by Namibian native Chris Uys, from the Abbeyleix Bog Project. Also sharing the podium on the night were Monaghan County Council heritage office Shirley Clerkin and Clones man George Knight, chairperson of Monaghan Heritage Forum. The events planned for Co Monaghan are wide and varied, with a number of them taking place in Knockatallon/Slaibh Beagh, and an interesting pilgrim path walk from Poll an Aifrinn in Knockballyroney to St Dympna’s well in Culdavnet also expected to appeal to the more active participants. Full details of all events are available by clicking on the following link: https://www.heritageweek.ie/whats-on/events/?where=monaghan Events are FREE and everyone is welcome.
