Best wishes to a number of local competitors who headed off to compete in the national Special Olympics competition from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th June 2018. The opening ceremony will take place in Tallaght Stadium at 7pm on Thursday 14th. The Ulster team includes Eamonn Brummitt from Ballinode who will participate in football; and Clare McElroy from Aughnacloy, Smithboro who will compete in swimming. Eamonn’s participation has been kindly sponsored by  McAree Engineering, Shauna Finnegan, Chic Hair and Beauty; Josie Hamill; Margaret Finn; Mullinahinch Nursing Home, House of Gold, Monaghan, Mary Johnston and Anne Brummitt. Clare is supported by Greenfield Foods; Maguire Transport, Brenson Lawlor Accounting, and Connolly’s Chemist, Monaghan. The Ulster team coaches and chaperones include Robert McClave from Ballinode who is a football coach; Margaret McElroy who also coaches football, and Mickey McElroy who is a football chaperone.  The community is very proud of these athletes and their commitment, and we are very excited about them representing us in the national games.
