Alison McBride (Alison Nic Giolla Bhríde received the ultimate accolade at the Coláiste Oiriall School assembly when she received the top honour of “Student of the Year”. Alison received her primary education at Gaelscoil Ultain. Her brothers Gavin and Daithi attended Colaiste Oiriall before her, and Daithi was Student of the Year in 2012. Alison is currently studying for her Leaving Cert in the subjects of English, Irish, Maths, Accounting, Biology, Home Economics and French. The Student of the Year award is confined to sixth year students and considers all aspects of school life including academic achievements, attendance, compliance with school regulations and policies, participation in extra curricular activities, and school interaction. The citation read:

Cailín uasal a leiríonn an-dílseacht don scoil, ceannaire an-aibí, an-páirteach i gcispheil agus peil sa scoil. Cathaoirleach an Choiste Ghaelbhrataigh. An-dúil aici sa Ghaeilge and i gcruimeas na Gaeilge, comhoibritheach, díogtáiseach agus rannpháirteach in achan rud sa scoil, idir acadúltacht agus sport, girseach an-chineálta a chuidíonn lena comhdaltaí sna hábhair difriúla i gcónaí, bhuaigh sí duais náisiúnta sa chomórtas “Aistritheoirí Óga”. Bhí sí páirteach i gcomórtas náisiúnta “Lá Eorpach Na dTeangacha”.
