Following on from an appeal from Rosaleen Coleman from Carrickmacross for an interpretive sign for “American Cross” at Killylough, Tydavnet, the signage has been designed, and erected earlier this week. The signage reflects the historical significance of the T Junction of American Cross emigration meeting point where emigrants said goodbye to his/her parents, friends and neighbours before departure for America, most often from Queenstown, in Cork. The signage will be formally unveiled on Tuesday 24th April at 1pm. Thanks to everyone involved with his important local heritage project.
