Trip to Scotland: Monaghan U3A is offering a trip to Scotland from the 14th to the 18th May. Staying in the Scotland’s hotel and leisure centre, Pitlochry, we will visit places such as the Burns centre, Blair castle, Dewars World of Whisky, Perth and Dundee. Trip to Botanic Gardens/Farmleigh House: We are in the process of organising a day trip to the Botanic Gardens and Farmleigh House in Dublin for Monday 16th April. The trip will include guided tours of both places and we might squeeze in some retail therapy on the way home. Price for the trip which will include bus, tour and evening meal will follow in the next edition. Age Action St. Patrick’s Day Party: Age Action invites all U3A members to a Patrick’s Day Party at 12.00 on Friday 16th March. You can see some pre loved goods, clothes and furniture. Tea/coffee with homemade bread and shortbreads available

Registration and Renewals: It is now time to renew or register for Monaghan U3A, please remember that all classes and events are for members only. To register or renew your membership, put your name, email address, phone number on an envelope with the appropriate fee, 15 euro for a single member or 20 euro for a couple, and place in the U3A box in the Age Action shop, Glaslough street. There are pre- printed envelopes available in the Age Action shop.

Walks: Wednesday, March 21st, the walk is in Ballybay Wetlands. Meet at McNally’s petrol station at 10.00 or in Ballybay at 10.30.  This is a pleasant and easy walk in the Wetlands. All walkers welcome’.

The Table Quiz for Border Bounce gymnastic club to raise funds for heating the hall where U3A does its flexibility class, is now on Friday 16th March in Terry’s at 8.00pm as the snow caused its postponement.

Book Club: The next meeting is Thursday 22nd March in the Four Seasons hotel at 2.30. The book for this month is ‘The Snow Goose’ by Paul Gallico. This is a short book set during the Dunkirk evacuation and is available in the library. We are also reading  ‘The Couple Next Door’ by Shari Lapena. Take your pick or read both!

Monthly Speaker:  The next Speaker is Maria Macklin who will give a talk on ‘Dressing to be your best self’, this will be a talk of interest for all our members, male and female alike!  The talk is on Friday, March 23rd in the Garage Theatre at 11.00 am

Coffee Morning, every Thursday, around eleven, in Graham’s Coffee shop.

Coffee and Craic every Wednesday in Smithboro Presbyterian hall between 3.00 and 4.30.

Flower arranging: There will be a set of four Flower arranging classes in St, Joseph’s Pastoral centre (downstairs) at 8.00pm. The next class is Tuesday 27th March.

Walking Festival: Our annual Walking Festival takes place this year on Thursday April 12th and Friday April 13th. The headquarters is once again in the Four Seasons hotel, while the walks are in Bragan. There will be a Festival dinner in the Four Seasons on Thursday 12th. Walkers and non- walkers alike are welcome to go to the dinner which costs 25 euro.
