Though Ballinode Tidy Towns group will not be hosting the full Eco camp week this year, Monaghan County Council Environment section (through Nial O’Connor, environmental officer) will be supporting a “Day in the Bog”, the highlight of every eco camp so far. An environmental bog walk to explore the biodiversity of Sliabh Beagh (ok, we might fit in a bit of mud too) with Paddy Sherry, walk leader, will take place on Tuesday 19th July. Details are not finalised yet, but there is a strict limit on the number of participants, so early booking is essential. More details on registration night and cost will be available later, but save the date, this is going to sell out fast. It’s open to boys and girls, aged 7 – 13, and priority will be given to families who have participated in previous years. As usual, it is hoped that a number of parents will make themselves available on the day to do the walk and help out with supervision, it’s great fun! More details later (watch out for page 8 in Standard, and on website)bog
