After 39 years as a Primary Teacher, Miss Elizabeth Finnegan is taking her leave from Tydavnet N.S. and calling it a day. A celebratory Mass took place in St Dympna’s Chapel on Wednesday 15th June, followed by a social and presentation in Tydavnet School. Among the symbols of her life brought to the altar were flowers, representing her love of gardening; a  sticker chart symbolising her encouragement and motivation of her students; a book which represented her implementation of beneficial learning programmes like Reading Recovery; a tap which was a symbol of her care for the environment and her contribution to the school’s two Green Flags; vegetables which Elizabeth had the children involved in growing at school; and a staff photo, showing her as a caring and supportive teacher and friend. Miss Finnegan will be missed for the wonderful contribution she made to education in the school as well as the extra curricular activities. The community sends good wishes to her for a long and enjoyable retirement.
