International (free) music day on Summer Solstice (June 21st 2012)

International music day – love:live music 2012 will take place on Thursday 21st June. It’s shaping up to be an extraordinary celebration of music in Ireland. The love:live music movement is Ireland’s part in the Fête de la Musique, first held in France thirty years ago and now a worldwide programme of free musical events on the summer solstice (21st June) each year. Comhaltas will play a central role in these celebrations all over Ireland. A Comhaltas Seisiun show provides an opportunity for all to experience and be entertained by the vibrancy of our Irish cultural traditions.

CCE Eamonn ÓMuirí, Scotstown will hold a free seisiun in Scotstown village centre from 8.00 – 9.00 pm, and more details can be had from Póilín NíRuanaidh 087 96 55 031 or mackieerooney@eircom.net Maicí Rooney the well known storyteller and raconteur will introduce the young musicians of Scotstown to their audience- all 25 will play a range of traditional repertoire together on a variety of instruments-musicians as young as seven will perform, led by well known master musician Edel Connolly – this session will presented through both Irish and English by Maicí.

CCE Emyvale will have an open air seisiun at the lovely Emy Lake from 7.00 – 9.00 pm. Admission free, all information from Mary Kirke 086 853 55 19 or jkirke@eircom.net
