Because of the common bond of St. Dympna Tydavnet and a small town in Northern Belgium ‘Gheel’ twinned in 1992 and since then there has built up a great bond of friendship between the two communities. It has been a twinning of hearts and minds. We have entertained groups of people from Gheel in Tydavnet and likewise we have travelled in groups to Belgium where we have stayed with the local community in their homes, become immersed in their culture and established links that are important for tourism and heritage alike
