History

St. Dympna’s National School was opened in 1984. This replaced the old school which  was
on the site of the present Community Centre. Cornagilta National School amalgamated with Tydavnet N.S. in 1984.

The beautiful deciduous trees on the school site were planted by the late Canon Gilsenan about 15 years ago.

The playground at the back of the school was redeveloped in 2009. Grant-aided by the Parent’s Association, the parish and the Clár Programme it generated a great spirit of community among the parents of the school. The playground has proved to be an excellent sports facility during playtime and for all outdoor activities.
