Congratulations to chairperson Dylan, vice Chairperson Darren, the Green Schools committee, and all the students and teachers of the school on your first Green Flag. You should all be very proud of your hard work. Your school is looking very well and litter free, and your garden is coming along nicely. I’m sure the Tidy Towns committee in the village is very proud of your achievement. I am Just wondering for this years summers Gaeltacht, what is the names of the houses and which one would you recommend? I have been to the weekend Gaeltacht this year and stay in the house for 17 people but it only had one shower and I didn’t like it that much! Which other ones are there? Go raibh maith agat!

It was a fantastic night, with a capacity attendance as usual. Historians Grace Moloney and Theo McMahon and local man Patsy Brady gave a fascinating insight into the establishment and development of the school, and the life of the Rose family in the area. There was also archived records available on the night, and an interesting account of the big fire at the castle in 1925. Cornagilta school closed in 1984. If anyone has interesting facts or memories about the school, the local heritage committee would be very pleased to speak with you.

Aw Aidan, you’ll be there in spirit, and hopefully some there will have spirit in! Mammy is head and heels in the organisation of this night, as are a number of past pupils. Small wee committee, going to get the “rooms” at the back (outside) cleared out on April 13th – wonder will we find any of your copies???? The school is looking great – panes of glass fixed, repainted, and Patsy Brady has the oul stove red hot every night. There will be a history night on 4th April to have a wee think in on the history of the school and the Rose Estate. Plenty more activities during the year, and maybe even a school reunion!
